Which is the Best Browser For WordPress Owners?

Which is the Best Browser? There are four major browser out there that I use. I use them to do my back-end work in WordPress. Some are actually better than others for business and others are better for those that come to visit your WordPress Website. So lets get into which is the best browser for you, the site owner and the WordPress publisher.

Which is the Best Browser? Firefox?

One of the major hitters out on the internet and taking up major market share from Internet Explorer on a daily basis is Firefox. It also has the most tools available for online marketers. The availability of tools like S3 Amazon interface, rank checker, SEOQuake and website development tools, makes it a powerhouse for those that like to tinker with the internet. But is it the right choice for someone who is building or maintaining a WordPress website?

From the words of Firefox

Firefox specialist and consultant Mike Kaply points out how Mozilla’s update schedule may work great for the average user, but he comments it will not work in a corporate or business environment. “Expecting a company to go through a full deployment cycle of their web browser every six week is simply ludicrous,”  said Firefox’s Mike Kaply. Firefox is expected to release a new version of Firefox ever six months or less.

With the new direction from the makers of Firefox, this browser is not a good choice to use for those that want to ensure their their WP plugins, WP themes and more are compatible. I had a bad experience with the Firefox 4 updated.

I had updated from 3.6 and went into my WordPress back-end user interface to find some of my plugin buttons not usable. I made changes to a few things and want to update my system. Nothing would happen. No updates were committed to the database. So after thirty minutes of snooping around, I opened up my site in Internet Explorer and low and behold everything worked. I was not successful in getting my plugins to work in Chrome or Safari. Yet IE 8 and IE 9 had not issues. I let the plugin developer know and a fix was issued.

Another issue I noticed in almost every Firefox version released, including version 6, is crashes. Firefox loves to lock up, which eventually leads to a crash and all my current work lost. It is also much slower than all the other browsers except for Internet Explorer. They still take the top rankings for the slowest browser. I have since moved off of Firefox and only use it when I need to access a Firefox tool.

Which is the Best Browser? Chrome?

Chrome is a great choice for its speed. It fires up fast and navigation is quick. It has since started to do its own version changes, yet it does not make the huge major changes every six months like Firefox. The changes are for the better. I only have had one instance of using Chrome, were an update caused me trouble with my WordPress back-end. Since then, this browser has been my business browser of choice. I still use it today.

Which is the Best Browser? Internet Explorer?

Internet Explorer is like visiting an old friend who’s choices have taken him or her on a different path in life. The visit is good for awhile, then you start to see how different you two truly are. This is how I see Internet Explorer. I use it when I want to validate any bug issues I am seeing while using other browsers. If I see the same issue happening in IE, then I know it is a true issue with the plugin or theme and nothing something to do with the browser. Often times IE is more stable for business than all the other browsers. There is a reason for that and I will explain.

Microsoft partners with Homeland Security and a number of other organizations. I have worked with a few of these generals that oversee internet security and they are not a pleasant bunch to work with. They have the power to shut down a business with a flick of the pen if it is hacking or causing some kind of issue with national security. Microsoft is a major contributor of software to the U.S. Government and must be in compliance.

Often times I would get a call to do immediate testing on something that was causing some kind of security breech. Implementation of the fix when this happens needs to be immediate. A security patch is applied to all systems within a very short amount of time. Failure to do so, can result in loss of revenue. So the job was fun, but a bit stressful at times. IE is under the same guidelines and contains the most stable environment for running a business.

The only drawback is speed and layout. IE is a very complex browser to use for business. It slows down when you need it to run fast and all the added gizmos is not something I want to deal with when I am trying to do a simple update to my website. So I only use it to validate my site for bugs in the code.

Which is the Best Browser? Safari?

If you own a Mac, then this is the best browser for you. If not then I would skip this one all together. On a PC, this browser is dog slow. It is like dragging around a ten pound weight chained around your leg. Avoid this one if you can. On the PC it tends to have the same issues as Firefox which I find frustrating and time consuming.

So which is the best browser for your business? It really all depends on you. I know there are people out there that praise Firefox and the other browsers. Yet when it comes down to it, you are the one who needs to make the right decision for your own online WordPress business. Yet don’t feel locked into a browser just because you have used that same one forever. Keep an open mind and try others from time to time when things change. You might find a more stable browsing experience and better productivity.
