Two WordPress Themes From A User’s Perspective
The controversy rages on Authority Pro vs OptimizePress. From a user’s perspective they really serve two different purposes. Yet, from just reading the sales pages from both company’s, it would seem these two premium WordPress themes do the same thing. You may have read a few things here and there that lumps both of these themes into the same boat. But in reality these WordPress themes, do two very different things. Lets take a deeper dive and find out the differences.
Authority Pro is a theme that does exactly what the name says. It creates Authority Websites and it does it well. Authority websites are different from regular blog sites or sites that have less than 400 to 1000 posts. When you create an authority site, you create a large site that grows over time. It may take years, yet over time the site ranks for hundreds of keywords. Authority sites can easily dominate in any niche.
To do this properly, the web designer needs a theme to support the special needs of an authority website. This is where the WordPress theme, Authority Pro shines. This theme contains a number of different features under the hood which can help in doing things like drive traffic, ranking, sales pages, optin pages, redirection, SEO and more. These features are all geared for larger sites and higher traffic.
This theme comes with video tutorials to help figure out the features and configurations. The key to using this theme is to figure out what features work the best for you and stick with them. You are going to find there are more features in this theme than needed and it is not necessary to implement and use them all. The features grow with each release. Going through the videos will detail those that will help you reach your own goals. It is really important to know your goals and business objectives before jumping into a theme like this. There are so many great features inside that you may get lost in trying them all, instead of focusing on the ones that will help you succeed with your own plan.
This is a theme that works best when building an authority site. If the website is not geared to becoming an authority, then it may be overkill. Now lets take a look at Optimizepress.
Optimizepress is a theme that is geared to product releases, sales pages, opt-ins and membership sites. This is the strength of this theme. If you have ever seen those video product releases where a new video is released every few days, this theme will do that for you. A lot of marketers also use this theme specifically for membership sites.
It automates things like walking a visitor through your site, into an optin form, then into a sale and finally into a membership site. It works seamlessly with Wishlist Member and other membership software. There are tutorials that can help the user set up all the features.
These are the difference between the two themes. I use them both, but never for the same things. I have different needs which each theme fills. I would recommend them both, but not as a one fits all solution. Knowing your business will really help you choose the best theme for you.
I just wanted to say thank you for the honest review.
Sure John, no problem. I try to do my best to give readers real world examples of everything I talk about on here. Art
Where would you put or classify the Socrates theme in this comparison? It certainly has a lot fewer options in which to get lost as a beginner compared to authority pro or optimizepress.
Socrates is a good solid theme and I tried it out when it was first released. Yet, I did not feel it had enough options and features needed to automate a lot of the tasks needed for an online business. It would not rate anywhere near the two themes in this article. Both of these themes are well advanced and very powerful. For someone that really wants to get into online marketing, authority site building, product launches etc., these two themes and a third Flexsqueeze are the best choices. I would go as far as suggesting these three for a beginner. They are just that powerful.
